Slack pack south bound!
Mile 275-266
9 miles against the grain of north bound hiker friends. Woke up in a bed at big bear hostel. Last night a few of us, moonshine, ninja and Sierra watched man on the moon with Jim carry. On VHS. Stop rewind. This morning moonshine and I did some yoga, and decided to "slack pack" with just water 10 miles around big bear so we wouldn't have to do it with our pack weight going north. We didn't even have the intention of hiking south while all out friends were hiking north, but we decided it would be a fun adventure to go against the grain. We stopped and made new friends and saw old Friends we have been missing (who were only a few miles ahead). It was a lovely stroll, making many a conversation break. Got a ride from an elderly couple who are unofficial trail angels, back to the hostel. We packed up our stuff, saw older friends who were behind us and just checking in to the hostel as we were about to head out. We had dinner burritos, and got a ride back to the trail by the same Lovely couple who gave us a ride earlier. Moonshine and I picked up tequila and margarita mix for our full Moon hike. Only hiked about 2 miles in the mooNlight.

Side note- moonshine and I have an affinity for hugging trees... Except for when the fuzzy bark gets in your clothing and itches for the night and the next day.

Mile 296
19 miles
Hiked 15 miles and stopped at the most beautiful creek and rock hopped and did yoga from rock to rock. Found our friend water bug hanging out by the creek. Met new hikers we've never formally met. One with a digerydoo. Digerydood. We hiked on. About 4 miles into the sunset.
