Hiked 12 miles into Stehiken with switch gizmo and dirtnap. Surreal to be hiking into our final trail town. Stehiken can only be accessed by foot, by ferry or by water plane, on lake Chelan. This morning was sunny finally, and the trail was mainly downhill, rolling us out gently. Last night my toes really hurt on my left foot. All the little piggies, they want to go home. Waiting at the ranger station for the shuttle to pick us up. Took the 3 o'clock. First stop: bakery! Bought a savory pesto croissant with mushrooms and spinach, a carot cake muffin with cream cheese frosting, and a cinnamon roll. This bakery is trail-famous. Next stop: the garden. Fresh veggies fruit and goat cheese.
Stayed in a room at the lodge with switch. Luxurious it was to soak in the tub, then shower, while drinking wine, and hanging out with switch while doing our chores. And the pillows! So fluffy! Woke up and had our cinnamon sticky buns from the bakery, in bed!
I received not only my final resupply box from my mom, but a care package from Sierra. It contained many chocolate confections, Three cans of black IPA brewed with oysters, and love! Thank you Sierra!! I wrote her a wooden post card from steheiken but just realized I forgot to write her address on it... Or my own. Oops!
